In a recent study, WalletHub author Richie Bernardo compiled data to determine the best places in Georgia to raise a family in 2016. According to Bernardo, “We compared the cities based on 21 key indicators of family-friendliness, ranging from ‘number of attractions’ to ‘median family income’ to ‘school-system quality.’” How did cities in the West Georgia region rank? Here are the highlights:
Out of the 100 Georgia cities ranked, Newnan, GA came in with the highest overall rating for this region. Boasting a 33rd place finish highlighted by the city’s “Education, Health, & Safety,” score, this West Georgia city has experienced a great deal of growth since 2000. This data may give an indication as to why the growth occurred.
What was a bit surprising was that although Carrollton led the West Georgia area in the “Family Life & Fun,” category, the city’s “Affordability,” and “Socioeconomic,” rankings brought Carrollton’s overall ranking down to 78th place on the list.
